Mitch Haniger is an MLB outfielder for the Seattle Mariners. Mitch attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he earned Big West Conference Freshman of the Year distinction in 2010.. After finishing his 2012 collegiate season as the Big West Conference Player of the Year, en route to earning All-American accolades, Mitch was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.
In 2014, the Arizona Diamondbacks traded for Haniger, where he would eventually work his way up to experience his major league debut.
In 2016, Haniger was part of a blockbuster trade that sent he, Jean Segura, and Zac Curtis to the Seattle Mariners from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Mitch was an all-star in 2018 and he finished 11th in MVP voting that season. Mitch’s 2018 season saw him finish the season with a .285 batting average, 26 home runs, and 93 RBI in 157 games. Defensively, he also tied for the major league lead in outfield assists. Haniger earned the designation as Mariners Team MVP for his 2018 season.
Mitch’s 2019 season was cut short due to injury, but he still displayed his ability to hit for power while hitting 15 home runs in 63 games. In 2019, Haniger won the “MLBPAA Mariners Heart and Hustle” Award.
