Valerie Kondos Field, more affectionately known as Miss Val, is regarded as one of the most accomplished gymnastics coaches of all-time.
Kondos Field attended UCLA as a student and she began her coaching tenure at UCLA in 1983 as an assistant coach. Kondos Field was appointed head coach of the Bruins gymnastics team in 1991z
During her 28 year stretch as head coach of the Bruins women’s gymnastics team, Miss Val captured 7 national championships and an amazing 18 PAC-12 championships.
Kondos Field was acknowledged in 2016 as the PAC-12 Coach of the Century. Several of her athletes appeared on the PAC-12 Gymnasts of the Century list, including the most outstanding gymnast of the century, Tasha Schwikert.
Miss Val is classically trained in ballet and boasts choreography skills that are recognized and appreciated the world over as being amongst the very best.
Kondos Field is a breast cancer survivor, a professional speaker, corporate coach, author, and she delivered a TED Talk titled, “Why Winning Doesn’t Always Equal Success”.
Her instruction of Olympians Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Nastia Liukin and many others has resulted in team and individual accolades resulting in an unprecedented amount of gymnastics World Championships and medals for her athletes.
Miss Val is married to UCLA Associate Athletic Director, Bobby Field.
